Chao-wei Chang is a documentary director/producer/writer/researcher from Taiwan, now based in Beijing. He co-founded CNEX Foundation and CNEX Studio together with Ben Tsiang and Ruby Chen. He is the Chief Producer of CNEX from 2006 onward.

He received MA of history from NTHU(Taiwan) in 1994, with the MA thesis on the 1970s folk song movement in Taiwan. His second MA degree came from Northern Media School(UK) on documentary production.

He used to work as a freelancer director, mostly making documentary programs for PTS(Taiwan). 2003-2005, he joined The Moving Visuals(Singapore) as the China producer/researcher, and co-produced several programs for Discovery Asia and TLC. 2009-2012, he worked as head of documentary center of SunTV(Hong Kong). From 2017, he is the Chief Content Advisor of Visual Impact(Beijing), and worked as chief director for several TV documentary series.

He has published several books in Chinese, the topics include Taiwan's folk song movement, Chinese culture phenomena, documentary review.
